One little boy's best evening ever!

Our afternoon outside time started out just like any other day. Eleanor in the stroller and Ethan walking running to the playground. There is no keeping this kid near the house!

Ethan had fun throwing the wood chips (his new found excitement) and sliding down the slide on his tummy (his new found trick).

After he had enough at the playground we headed towards Casey Street, just like we always do. Our buddies Liam and Troy live there and he always has to check to see if they are outside. Tonight they weren't but their garage was open. Well, in this neighborhood that is an open invitation to play with the toys inside no matter how much I try to keep him away. I'd call ourselves creepers as we were just hanging outside their house and not doing much. Word got inside that we were outside and out ran Troy. After a few minutes of chatting, Troy wanted a picture with the pumpkins and with Ethan.

Finally Mama Mash and Ms. Danielle came out to chat (Liam was still sleeping). We're all hanging out while the boys play and a big fire truck drives by. Mama Mash and I get super excited and try to get the boys to look but they missed it. Thank goodness we live in government housing...one way in and one way out, so we knew the truck would be making another appearance. We walked out back of the house to the sidewalk near the main road to watch for the fire truck. Trying to keep a 19 month old and a 3 year old occupied long enough until the truck came by was a bit exhausting - for Ms. Danielle!

Finally the truck is getting closer and we tell the boys to wave. They did (as Ethan yells "tuck" and makes his fire truck sounds) and the truck's lights start flashing. It was pretty exciting. Then the truck stops right in front of us, the crew gets out and next thing we know our little boys are in the fire truck. Ethan sat in the front seat for a good 15 minutes. He was so good and was so interested in all the buttons. I'm so glad he was so good for the fireman!

I don't know who had more fun...the boys or the moms. Either way it was certainly a fantastic way to end the day! Well, other than Ethan wanting to look at the photos on my phone a gazillion times when we got home!

The Fire Master's kid (miss you lots, Jon)

Marine Fireman Troy

Ooooh, WOW!

What's that?

Look...there's my mom!

YES! We got one with both of them looking at the camera!

I'm just sittin' in a fire truck - NBD!

YAY! Fireman Liam woke up and was able to get in on the action!
